The DPS measures the real acoustic comfort of a home over 24 hours to 1 week. Each sound is identified, timestamped, quantified in dB(A) and linked to its origin (room by room, shared walls or outside), then translated into a sound rating from A to G, as readable as an energy label. It is the acoustic counterpart of the energy performance certificate.

01Definition

What is the DPS?

The Acoustic Performance Diagnosis (DPS) assesses the acoustic comfort of a home based on a real and continuous measurement, not a theoretical estimate. Where the energy certificate rates energy, the DPS rates sound, down to identifying the acoustic sieve just as the energy certificate identifies the thermal sieve.

A measurement, not a calculation

From 24 hours to 1 week of effective listening: noise as experienced day to day, day and night, weekday and weekend, rather than a theoretical value on a floor plan.

Voluntary and complementary

The DPS is a voluntary diagnosis. It does not replace any mandatory diagnosis: it enriches a property's file with data that is missing today, acoustic comfort.

Readable by everyone

A rating from A to G, named noise sources, a located origin and a costed action plan. Sound becomes clear data to decide, negotiate or improve.

02Analysis

What the DPS reveals

Measuring is not enough: the DPS qualifies each noise, locates it and places it back in its context.

Everyday noise or disturbing noise

Not all noises are equal. The DPS distinguishes the normal sounds of a home from disturbing or abnormal noises, according to their nature, intensity, recurrence and time of day: music at 3 p.m. does not carry the same weight as at 2 a.m.

More than 500 sounds recognized

Voices, music, parties, television, pipes, ventilation, appliances, breaking glass, cars, horns, sirens, works, footsteps, slamming doors, animals… The sensor recognizes more than 500 types of sounds, each named, dated and quantified in dB(A) throughout the measurement period.

Located origin

One device per main room, three for a 3-room flat. By comparing levels and timestamps between rooms, the report locates the origin of the noise: room by room, shared walls (neighbors) or outside (street, traffic, environment).

Cross-referenced with public data

The on-site measurement is compared with public data on road, rail and air noise exposure (regulatory noise maps). You know whether the disturbance comes from the building… or from the environment.

How is the DPS built?

An audio sensor with embedded artificial intelligence listens to the home and turns every second of sound into usable data, directly on board, without transmitting any recording.

Installation

One Sonalyze device per main room (three for a 3-room flat), installed by a professional or on your own. They are placed and start up.

What your DPS report contains

The report opens with the sound label (rating A→G) then details the analysis and the action plan.

Acoustic performance label

A rating from A to G, modeled on the energy label, with the overall average measured in dB(A) and the E to G classes flagged (acoustic sieve).

Hour-by-hour sound map

Each type of sound, hour by hour over the measurement period, colored according to its intensity, to spot at a glance what, when and at what level.

Average day and night noise

The day/night and per-source breakdown distinguishes what disturbs sleep from what animates the day (for example 44 dB(A) during the day versus 37 dB(A) at night).

Budget estimate

Actions prioritized by importance, with cost, estimated acoustic gain in dB and difficulty of implementation.

How to read the report?

1. The sound rating places the home. 2. The noise map and the day/night view explain why. 3. The action plan indicates what to do, in what order and for what gain.

The report distinguishes accessible tasks, such as a door seal (€20 to €50, gain of 3 to 5 dB), from projects to entrust to a professional, such as acoustic windows (gain of 15 to 20 dB).

Solutions for every interior

Insulating materials, joinery, textile or decorative: acoustic wall panels and absorbing textile works that improve acoustics without altering the space.

Objectify a disturbance, prepare a remedy. The DPS documents a situation in a timestamped and quantified way, with a rigorous and reproducible methodology. In matters of neighborhood disturbances, evidence is free: the report can be attached to an amicable approach, a letter to the building manager, a mediation or a file sent to a lawyer, its value being freely assessed by the judge. It does not replace a bailiff's report or a judicial expertise: it helps prepare and support them.

The DPS made clear

Is the DPS mandatory?

No. The DPS is a voluntary diagnosis. It does not replace or condition any mandatory regulatory diagnosis. It provides complementary information to add value to a property, target works or document a disturbance.

How long does the measurement last?

From 24 hours to 1 week depending on the package. 24 hours cover a full day/night cycle; a week additionally captures variations between weekdays and weekends, which is useful for intermittent disturbances.

How much does a DPS cost?

€240 incl. VAT (€200 excl. VAT) for 24 hours of measurement, with all main rooms equipped. Options: +€60 incl. VAT per secondary room, +€60 incl. VAT for 48 h or +€120 incl. VAT for 1 week.

Where do the identified noises come from?

Thanks to one device per main room, the report compares measurements between rooms and locates the origin of each noise: room by room, shared walls (neighbors) or outside. The measurement is cross-referenced with public data on road, rail and air noise exposure to distinguish what comes from the building and what comes from the environment.

What types of sounds are recognized?

More than 500 types of sounds: voices, music, parties, television, pipes, ventilation, appliances, breaking glass, cars and traffic, horns, sirens, works, footsteps and impacts, slamming doors, animals… Each sound is named, timestamped and measured in dB(A).

What does the sound rating from A to G mean?

Can the report be used as evidence?

The DPS produces objective, timestamped and quantified documentation, following a rigorous and reproducible methodology. Are my conversations recorded?

No. The sensor classifies sounds directly on board and transmits no raw audio recording. Only metadata is kept (type of sound, intensity in dB(A), timestamp), hosted on French and European infrastructure.
